Conwy Castle
Conwy's massive military strength springs from the rock on which it stands.
Built for Edward I, by Master James of St George, the castle is amongst the finest surviving medieval fortifications in Britain. In a word, exceptional. You can’t fault it, from the grandeur of its high towers and curtain walls to its excellent state of preservation. An estimated £15,000 was spent building the castle, the largest sum Edward spent in such a short time on any of his Welsh castles between 1277 and 1307. Money well spent.

Snowdonia National Park
With wild landscapes and villages steeped in history, Snowdonia National Park is a breathtaking destination for activity holidays, short breaks or days out with family and friends. It’s best known for hiking, but there’s plenty more to enjoy, from waterfalls, lakes and world-class mountain biking to a vintage steam railway that climbs the highest peak in Wales.

Llandudno Beaches
On our doorstep at Min y Don is Llandudno's principal beach, known as North Shore or simply Llandudno Beach.
There’s never a dull moment on Llandudno Beach!
All the best old-fashioned ways to enjoy our beautiful coast are here.
Punch and Judy shows have been a firm seaside favourite for over a 150 years, then there’s donkey rides on the sand, ice cream on the pier, live music from the bandstand. And not forgetting an afternoon nap in your deckchair!
There’s, a play area, paddling pool and snacks at the Prom’s east end.
One of the best ways to see Llandudno is from a boat, hop aboard Sea-Jay for a water-based sightseeing trip to see the Little Orme and Great Orme or a longer sea fishing trip where you can enjoy the breathtaking coastline in the hope of catching your own dinner.
Or you can hop aboard one of the speedboats and whiz by the Great and Little Ormes in a blur of spray and salt.
Great fun!
Few modes of transport raise more smiles, from both passengers and passers-by, than the Llandudno Land Train which you can board opposite the North Parade.
The urge to wave to the crowds, as the multi-coloured engine ‘chuffs’ its way between Llandudno Beach and West Shore beach, is too much to resist.
Llandudno Beach is just a few minutes’ walk to the town’s amenities including shops, cafes and toilets.

Happy Valley Botanical Gardens
The Happy Valley is a sheltered hollow on the eastern side of the Great Orme. It is a CADW listed public park and was dedicated to the town of Llandudno by Lord Mostyn in 1887 in celebration of the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria. The gift and the occasion were marked by the erection of a drinking fountain surmounted by a canopied bust of Queen Victoria shown in the photograph below.

Great Orme Copper Mines
Uncovered in 1987 during a scheme to landscape an area of the Great Orme, the copper mines discovered represent one of the most astounding archaeological discoveries of recent times. Dating back 4,000 years to the Bronze Age they change our views about the ancient people of Britain and their civilized and structured society 2,000 years before the Roman invasion.
Over the past 28 years mining engineers, cavers and archaeologists have been slowly uncovering more tunnels and large areas of the surface landscape to reveal what is now thought to be the largest prehistoric mine, so far discovered in the world.
